Consultation Process

Choosing to pursue cosmetic or reconstructive plastic surgery is a personal decision, and the consultation is one of the most important steps in the process. At McCue Plastic Surgery, Dr. Jonathan McCue believes that every patient deserves personalized attention, honest guidance, and the information needed to make confident decisions about their care. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, educational, and comfortable experience from your very first visit.

Your First Visit

During your free initial consultation, you will meet with Dr. McCue to discuss your goals, concerns, and reasons for considering treatment. Whether you are interested in cosmetic enhancement or reconstructive surgery, this appointment is designed to help you better understand your options and determine the best approach for your individual needs.

Dr. McCue takes time to listen carefully and answer your questions thoroughly. He believes that patients should feel informed and empowered throughout the decision-making process, with a clear understanding of both the benefits and limitations of any procedure.

A Personalized Evaluation

Every patient is unique, which is why no two consultations are exactly alike. Dr. McCue will review your medical history, discuss any previous procedures or concerns, and perform a detailed evaluation related to the area you would like to address.

Based on your anatomy, goals, and overall health, he will recommend treatment options tailored specifically to you. In keeping with his philosophy of evidence-based medicine, Dr. McCue focuses on procedures and techniques that are proven to be safe and effective while avoiding unnecessary treatments or added costs.

Education and Honest Communication

At McCue Plastic Surgery, patient education is a priority. During your consultation, you can expect open and honest communication about:

  • Recommended treatment options

  • What to expect before, during, and after surgery

  • Recovery timelines and aftercare

  • Potential risks and complications

  • Expected outcomes and limitations

  • Alternatives, including the option of no treatment

Dr. McCue believes it is important that patients fully understand every aspect of their procedure before moving forward.

Planning Your Procedure

If you decide to proceed with treatment, our team will help guide you through the next steps. We will review scheduling, pre-operative instructions, pricing, financing options if applicable, and what you can expect leading up to your procedure date.

Our staff is always available to answer additional questions and provide support throughout your surgical journey.

Preparing for Surgery: Your Pre-Op Appointment

Before your procedure, you will attend a pre-operative appointment to help ensure you feel informed, prepared, and confident moving forward with surgery. During this visit, our team will review important details about your procedure, recovery, and post-operative care.

Pre-operative photographs will be taken to assist with surgical planning and to document your results throughout the process. You will also receive instructions on how to download and use our communication app, which allows you to communicate with our office before and after surgery.

Dr. McCue and our team will review all medications, supplements, and vitamins you are currently taking and provide guidance on any adjustments needed prior to surgery. You will also receive detailed pre-operative instructions, including information about eating and drinking restrictions, recovery preparation, and what to expect on the day of your procedure. Our goal is to make sure you feel fully prepared and supported every step of the way.

Post-Operative Care and Follow-Up

Your recovery and results are an important part of the surgical process, which is why Dr. McCue and our team provide ongoing support and follow-up care after your procedure. Patients are typically seen in the office the day after surgery so we can monitor your healing, answer questions, and ensure you are recovering comfortably.

For patients traveling from outside the area, staying at a nearby hotel after surgery may be recommended for convenience and easier access to follow-up care. Around day seven, patients return for another follow-up appointment where Dr. McCue will evaluate healing progress and review scar care instructions as needed.

Additional follow-up visits are typically scheduled around the one-month and six-month marks to monitor your recovery and results over time. Progress photographs are often taken during these appointments to document healing and surgical outcomes. Throughout your recovery, our team remains available to provide guidance, answer questions, and help ensure you feel supported every step of the way.
